Figure Leering

That's how you get ants!

CUSTOM: Hand-Painted Evangelion Fan
Eva Series
moronokimi
I'm back after an annoying bit of business with my computer's motherboard. Thankfully, it was ONLY the motherboard so no data was lost. At any rate I'm really sorry for how spotty I've been with being...well, AROUND recently. Getting close to graduating from university means my classes are pretty demanding and I've been kind of stressed recently so needless to say it's interfered with updating.

Onward!Collapse )

[Artbook] Gundam 00 Yun Kouga Design Works
Eva Series
moronokimi
I apologize for the missed week. I have a very demanding university class that takes a lot of work each week and initially I just couldn't budget time to post. I should be able to post normally from here on out but if there are other delays, then you know why.

But enough of my excuses, on with the words!Collapse )

The Case for Kotobukiya
Eva Series
moronokimi
Much as I've seen a lot of complaints about the quality of Revoltech (something I've addressed in a prior post) I've seen complaints that Kotobukiya has shoddy quality control or is just inferior in general to other companies. Usually it's being compared unfavorably to Good Smile Company, especially as in a couple of cases the two companies both produced figures of the same character.
So of course I must jump to Kotobukiya's defense...Collapse )

PONIES AHEAD. If you hate ponies with a fiery passion you can just skip this entry. If you like ponies, love ponies, are totally indifferent to ponies or dislike ponies but appreciate the work that goes into a figure repaint, read on!

Revoltech Eva: An Overview
Eva Series
moronokimi
My display case is full of my scale PVCs, as they are (A): the priciest and (B): the most fragile of my collection, and generally the most impressive as well. But fully 20% of my collection is my Evangelion revoltechs (and my first figure was actually Revoltech Eva Unit 01.) I've heard a great deal of complaints about quality control in the paint on a lot of revoltechs, but whatever your opinion may be I love mine and don't regret a cent of what I've spent on them.
Keep in mind that my only experience with the revoltech line is the Evangelion figures and a single Frauline Revoltech, which I won't be discussing here. All the Evas are from the Revoltech Yamaguchi series.
Onward!Collapse )

[Kotobukiya] 1/7 Mari "Illustrious" Makinami Test Plug Suit
Eva Series

I'm finished with finals, so that means an update is in order! Seeing as I don't do many reviews and wanted to post some nice pictures of my newest acquisition, today I'll be doing a review of Kotobukiya's 1/7 scale Test Plug Suit Mari "Illustrious" Makinami.

SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN EVANGELION 2.22 AHEAD. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Without further ado...Collapse )

Boxes: Where do they go?!
Eva Series

I apologize for the missed week. I'm a university student and I've had exams to study for and papers to write, so I haven't had as much time for my blog.
So let's just get to my rambling right away!Collapse )

Custom Nagisa Kaworu Merman ver.
Eva Series
moronokimi
Hello all! In the spirit of Evangelion's usual ridiculous merchandising, I'm here to show off my latest custom creation. Check out the "Stuff I Made" tag if you're interested in more of my original and custom work.
Now, what's this about a merman...?Collapse )

Hobby Intolerance
Eva Series
moronokimi
I've seen a myriad of discussions on this topic, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts on the matter. I consistently see people who are into the figure collecting hobby talk about being derided, disapproved of, put down for and otherwise insulted by:
+ Family members
+ Friends
+ Random strangers!
I'm not so naive or idealistic as to think that this wouldn't happen, or to be surprised by its occurrence. However, I DO take issue with the forms it usually takes.
As you might expect this is a bit on the ranty side...and is a big ol wall of text.Collapse )

DC Unlimited's Sarah Kerrigan
Eva Series
moronokimi
Apologies for the missed week! I've been a bit busy with other things and didn't have time for writing.

Today I'm going to do a review of a non-Japanese figure! I don't have a lot of these but the ones I have are still part of my collection to me. I did a post about comparisons of quality for western vs. Japanese figures in general some time ago, but today I'm just going to talk about one figure: Blizzard's Sarah Kerrigan [Queen of Blades].

Without further ado, onward to the pics!Collapse )
